Situated about 20 km from Kuala Lumpur, the Nature Education Centre (NEC) is a perfect breakaway from the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan lifestyle. It was establish in 1993 and aims at instilling awareness and appreciation on the environment among the public.

NEC is a tripartite project between Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), Malaysia Nature Society (MNS), and SHELL Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd.  FRIM provides the venue and MNS manages the centre with an annual grant from SHELL Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd. NEC offers a unique learning environment for nature appreciation as it is situated in the lush tropical greenery of the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM).

NEC receives a large number of group visitors and camp participants, ranging from schoolchildren, young adults, government agencies, corporate sectors and other organised groups. Among NEC’s favourite nature-based activities are, forest ecology, canopy walk, night walk, stream sampling, bird watching, nature crafts and many more. If you feel that a day visit is insufficient, stay a night or two as NEC provides accommodation and food at reasonable prices. NEC is equipped with two dormitories that are large enough to accommodate 40 persons. As for food, NEC provide delicious Malaysian cuisine. Barbeque is available upon request.

For booking or enquiries, please contact the programme officers at 03-6277 1703 / 03-6275 4376. NEC is open from Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.30 pm daily. Come and visit the centre yourself to experience the beauty of nature at NEC!
